Biodiesel is America’s fastest-growing alternative fuel and one of the most thoroughly tested. More than 800 filling stations nationwide offer biodiesel to the public. John Ray & Sons is one of them.
In 2006 we were the first company in New York State to offer biodiesel fuel to retail customers at our fuel station in downtown Troy. We now have a dedicated pump that dispenses directly into customers' vehicles at the street level.
Biodiesel fuel is a blended, environmentally friendly fuel made with soybeans. It’s biodegradable, non-toxic and proven to produce lower carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide emissions than petroleum diesel. And because it’s made from domestic, renewable resources, it reduces our dependence on foreign oil.
We supply nearly a dozen commercial fleets with biodiesel, along with major entertainers who perform at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and other Capital Region venues.
We offer a B20 fuel mix — a blend of 20% pure biodiesel and 80% traditional petrodiesel — which has been approved for use in diesel engines with few or no modifications to the engine or fuel system. We offer a B5 blend for winter use.
As with all our products, you can expect the highest quality from John Ray & Sons. We purchase our fuel-grade biodiesel from certified companies that produce to strict industry specifications to ensure proper performance.
