John Ray & Sons' Pink Truck to Help Raise Funds to Fight Breast Cancer

TROY, NY – Watch for The John Ray & Sons Pink Truck throughout September and you might win a gas log set while helping to raise funds to fight breast cancer.

Reporting a sighting of The Pink Truck is a new fundraising effort that is part of John Ray & Son's Fueling a Cure program. This two-year initiative began in October 2008 to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northeastern New York Affiliate and to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

"Using the truck to promote this important message has been welcomed by our customers who support our Fueling a Cure program," said John Ray & Sons' President Ken Ray. "This latest effort continues our efforts and we hope will encourage more people to participate in Komen NENY Race for the Cure on Oct. 3 in Albany." The Pink Truck will be on display at the race.

John Ray & Sons' Pink Truck, painted in Komen's signature colors, travels about 1,000 miles a week, delivering heating oil to homes and businesses. A portion of the proceeds from each gallon of oil delivered by the truck benefits the NENY Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Most funds stay within the Capital Region to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.

It's easy to participate in the Spot the Pink Truck promotion. For each valid entry, John Ray & Sons will donate $5 to Komen for the Cure. And you can follow the course of The Pink Truck on Twitter at twitter.com/JohnRayPinkTruk.

"We'll have a random drawing for the winner in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month," Mr. Ray said.

How to participate:

• First, look for the John Ray & Sons' Pink Truck anywhere in the company's service area including Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties. 
• Note the time and location of the truck or take a digital photo. 
• Go to the company's website www.johnray.com, and click on "Spot The Pink Truck."
• Enter the time and location of the sighting or upload your photo of The Pink Truck along with your entry information to be entered into a drawing to win a gas lot set with installation.
