100 Years Of Service

John Ray & Sons, one of the Capital District’s oldest fuel suppliers, was originally established in 1904 as an ice delivery service. Back then, if you needed ice, you put a sign in your window to let the “Ice Man” know how many pounds to deliver that day.

Throughout the years, John Ray & Sons has delivered ice, coal, wood, kerosene, gasoline, diesel fuel, and home heating oil to customers throughout the Capital District. The company founder, John Ray (pictured), always said, “If you give people good service, they’re going to stay with you.”

Three generations later, the Troy-based company continues to uphold the family tradition of providing reliable, professional, courteous service. Ken Ray, president of John Ray & Sons, says, “Our mission is to always remember people first. We earn our customers’ loyalty through outstanding customer service with a “do whatever it takes” philosophy.”
